Default VGA detected

Hi im just trying to get my new pc build up and running and im currently getting a POST beep and then a beep after it.

according to the maual this could mean 3 things
VGA detected
No keyboard
quick boot set to disable

right now I have not managed to have any visual what so ever on my pc so i could not set anything to disable as yet.

I have tried leaving the keyboard unplugged then the beeps end up at 2 short ones.

so lastly im left with VGA detected.

Can anyone explain what this means, surely it sounds good that it's picked up vga.
im planning on buying a dvi-i- dvi-i cable and see what happens.

anyone think this would be a waste of money? my graphics card suport DVI but my monitor supports VGA and DVI.

thanks for any help

Do you know what BIOS you have?
And no it would not be a waste of money to get a DVI cable instead of a VGA, DVI shows much crisper images!

Well this is what I would do in this situation..

Take out the video card..Reboot...See if it stil beeps....Take out All Ram...Reboot how many beeps to do you get now?..

This way we can troubleshoot down to the last of the hardware..How many sticks of Ram do you have?
