Default New LG Monitor Help (contrast++)

So since my monitor is (almost) dead now I thought of buying a new one and wanted some help.

I'm thinking of buying a LG 22'' LCD L222WS-BN WIDE BLACK since it costs 220euros here. It has 1000:1 contrast, 1680x1050 resolution, 300 cd/m2 brightness and analog only input.

The question is if it would be worth spending 50-70 euro more to buy a 3000:1 contrast version. Is there really a big difference? I'll also go check them out at the shop.

So far I've only been using analog input, is digital(DVI?) better in some aspects? And if yes in what?

Otherwise it seems like a pretty nice (and very cheap for its category) monitor to me. Although I heard the LG no dead pixel guarantee doesn't cover monitors > 19" and that the big ones have 9!!! dead pixel guarantee which would suck if you get stuck with a bad one :P

Thanks in advance

Be sure to check your video-card specs first to ensure it can support wide-screen resolutions... some older cards were made before wide-screens existed.

I cannot advise further

same as bills said. check the graphics card supported res. there really wont be much diff between the 1000 and 3000. mine is 800 and it works great. But with a resolution that high, a dead pixel wont be very noticable

Hm my grafics card is an Excalibur ATI Radeon 9550 (SE?). I googled around a bit and found this in Amazon:
16 - 9 aspect ratio support in 1920x1080, 848x480 resolutions
Amazon.com: ATI 100-437105 Radeon 9550 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP Video Card: Electronics
though its a different company.
You think it will work?

Oh lol my old monitor had 450:1 contrast :P I think I can live with 1000:1 haha. And 16ms response time... those things develop pretty quickly

Any suggestion difference between DVI and analog?
edit: Hm based on this article there is't any big difference anymore (LCD connections: analog vs. digital - CNET reviews)
