Default Need some help

not sure if its been asked before but here we go.

Alright, I was helping a friend try to recover some files from a failing harddrive. Well I pluged it to my monitor I still could not get it to work. Ok lets forget the hard drive not. I decided to clean the computer out because it had dust bunnies the size of golf balls. I even toke the processer out. Now heres where I messed up. I tried to put it back in and I bent some of the spocks. When I get it back in and tried to fire the pc up nothing comes on the moniter. The mouse and keyboard fire up but nothing on the screen. I recieve no beeps and after about 15 to 30 sec the amber light on the front turns off and I just have a green light. None of them blink. The Cd rom even boots up and runs.

My question is this. Have I messed up the motherboard or just the chip (hoping just the chip). anyway to test it?

It is celeron 2.5 GHz
Compaq computer

Thanks

If you bent pins on the processor-- did you very carefully straighten /align them when you put it in ?.
If you are lucky -- they can be straightened sometimes.
If not the thing to do is replace the processor-- it is quite unlikely that you damaged the board UNLESS you forced the processor in.
