Thumbs down It all started with a new monitor...

Today I received a new Acer AL2015W LCD Monitor, and I plugged everything in and it booted Windows just fine...it asked me what type of resolution I wanted and (being the noob that I am) I wasn't sure, and one of the options was preview...so I chose that...when it changed it to one of the resolutions my screen went blank...

So I shutdown my computer manually...and attempted to restart...it got past the first few screen but it would not get to the windows screen...and I also didn't here the windows startup chime...

So I attempted to start it up in safe mode and it would get stuck on this page...

http://allyoucanupload.webshots.com/...21068056909609

As a last resort I attempted to reinstall windows...and when I got past the agreement page or the page that you have to push F8 I got a blue screen error...

This error said...

Bad_pool_caller

and the numbers it gave were...

0x000000c2
(0x00000043 0xc2554000 0x00000000 0x00000000)

I have tried removing the sound card, taking out one stick of ram, reseting the bios, placing the video card in the other pci slot, and still no luck...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
h4lt

This is what I found on it. did you try formating your hard drive first before reinstalling? Worth a shot, if that dosen't work then your probably looking at a hardware issue, maybe memory.

(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article.)
A kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.

Thanks for replying MichaelD,

I have looked at all of your links, and have come to the conclusion that I probably have a messed up driver, because the safe mode freezes when it gets to system.log, which by looking at your link have found that drivers are located in there...

So my questions are...

Will reformatting my drive help to get past that system.log so I can at least get into Windows and try to find my messed up monitor driver...

Oh I have 2GB of memory (2 sticks) and I have tried both of them one at a time...

And if I were to reformat my drive how would I go about doing that?

Thanks for all your help,
h4lt

This issue you are having is between your monitor and your video. Do you have onboard video or an adapter card?

Does the system also have onboard video? You might try reverting back to onboard and removing the card, getting the system back up and running then installing the card again.

So where are you actually in the process of reformatting? Do you have your Windows cd?
