well its been happening a lot lately, mostly when i leave my computer on at night (but leave monitor off), i try to turn it on, and after a second of the BenQ logo and purple background, it goes black.

the problem is, the monitor's light is still blue, not orange, which should mean its on, and im not getting a no signal error sign, just a black screen.

after turning the monitor off and on about 30 times, i finally get the desktop to come back. could this be a video card problem or is the monitor to blame?

Got any spare monitors/video cards to try? That would be the easiest and quickest way to diagnose if it's a hardware problem. I would say it could be your drivers, but if it turns off during BIOS then it probably isn't it, either way, you can try updating your drivers if they're out-dated. Do you remember installing anything new before it started happening or adding a new kit of hardware or something?

yea i thought of trying a mates spare parts, but i dont hav any myself. oh yea and i tried pressing del during startup and bios came up for a second but screen went black a second later

Hmm, well it sounds like a hardware problem, do you recall when this started happening? Like, if you did anything to the computer?

Is this a CRT or TFT monitor wigman?

i really dont no which of the two u mentioned but i no its an LCD 17" BenQ
