Monitor freezes
Not certain I am in the right pew with this matter. If not, hope someone will direct me as needed.
A friend assembled parts for my Windows XP, SP2 computer. I ran just fine for several years until a freeze situation developed. The freeze occurs at any time: I could be booting up, shutting down, writing an email, reading an email, just about any time.
Many, many things were tried to effect a cure with no result. Parts for a new computer were sent to me - I live in Asia - with the intention of assembling a new machine. Except for the power supply, I received a motherboard, floppy drive, DVD player and graphics card. These parts were assembled into a locally-purchased tower case.
The freeze continued. Two other power supplies were tried with no success. In all, three hard drives were tried with no success. Reformatting all three of the hard drives was accomplished, more than once on one drive, with no success.
Running the computer after a reformat/XP installation with only Thunderbird and Firefox installed - NOTHING ELSE - and with nothing attached, such as a printer, scanner, etc, the computer still froze!!
For the sake of brevity I am not showing details of the MB, etc, but can supply such information if needed. It appears I have a gremlin sitting on my computer table and would appreciate any help getting rid of the little bugger - - - - - Larry H in Tokyo -
