A lot of your monitor settings are in your Video propeties settings-- or your video-card software-- I am afraid I still use a CRT-- so I'm not sure if LCD's need "degaussing" which is demagetization ...

Need monitor make model number to look it up...

hmm i just tried turned the brightness setting all teh way up on my monitor and not the lines are completely gone but niow everything has this wierd metallic gray look to it (which im guessing is from all the brightness) however if i turn teh brightness even down 1 click from 100 the lines are visible again and teh furth down i turn it the more obvious the lines get)

OK-- here's a link to Acer's support site-- user guide.
http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/dat...nts/al1717.pdf

I would suggest you check your video resolution settings first-- LCD's are quite picky about these...so if hitting reset might have set it too low-- or to a non-supported resolution.

When did you buy it ??? They have a 3-year warranty you know-- which means you can contact their techsupport-- not meaning I don't want to help you-- far from it... but they may be able to give you a quick fix.
