hmm maybe it has something to do with my monitor resolution and refresh rate? the resolution is currently 1024 x 768 and a friend of mine says it may be the reslution and or refresh rate so i chnaged the refresh settings (havent touched resolutions) and although it didnt fix the problem i did notice differnces.

at 75 hertz the lines move from the top of the screen to the bottom
at 72 they move from the bottom to the top
at 70 they move from the top to the bttom at a faster speed than 75 hertz
and at 60 they moved from the bottom to the top at a faster speed than 72 herts but the same speed as 70 did.

Sorry-- I did try to post an answer yesterday-- but I've been having a really annoying connection issue of my own...

75hz is the max allowed by that monitor--the resolution shoulf be fine--

That monitor has an internal processor that remebers settings-- when you puh the reset button all that is wiped --and it starts fresh.
I would try totally powering down & shutting off the power to both monitor and tower-- unplug them for a few minutes.

Then plug them in-- power up the monitor FIRST, then the PC.

the manual is very specific on the sequence... why ?

There is an auto-setup built in-- so if everything works right it should redetect everything.

Let us know.

about the turning white thing, i had that same problem with a couple of cheap portable DVD players. after a couple weeks of use the screens woudl suddenly get really bright and white, and were unusable, and that was after like you said about 30 seconds. its wierd... um... ok. have you tried using another video card? or plug it into another computer? just a suggestion.

mm... well just sit tight. well figure something out. in the meantime, you should contact Acer tech support and see what they have to say. if possible use an online chat, not phone service. trust me on that
