to open video properties:
Right-click an open area on desktop scroll down to properties...
in the window that opens-- go to the "settings" tab--"screen resolution' is halfway down.

for the manual link-- I would look through the manual to see what the default resolution(s) are--or in the troubleshooting or FAQ section for any help for this issue.

new problem now my monitor works like its been working for about 30 secs then the screen slowly changes completely white (i havent done anything new to it) and i cant see or do ANYTHING lol.. th only way it fixes is if i turn teh monitor on and off them it works for 30 or so secs again before it turns white again.. however i notice the nvidiav display properites box came up by itself too maybe if i chance something in that?

Hmmm also you know when i said the only way i could get rid of the lines in turning the brightness up on my monitor which makes everything "workable" but it has a metalic grey llook? apparently that brightness setting is what was turning my screen white ive turned teh brightness down to wher the lines are back and now im using the pc for more than 5 mins and it hasnt faded to white yet... any idea how to get the nvidiav setiings back up? imma try to see if that helps (the resolution setting were fine by the way).

Mr Jones--do you have an older monitor to hook up ?? Even for a few minutes? Or one you can "borrow "?
That way we can be sure it is not the video-card... but the monitor itself. If you hook up a spare --and the issue disappears...you know it's the card or the mobo.

I'm afraid I do not like the sound of that having to turn the brightness up so high-- does not sound good

no im afraid i dont have a spare or one i can borrow however if i did hook up another one and the issue disappeared i would think that wmeant it was the monitor (if one monitor works fine while the other doesnt) and not the card?

i also asked about how long its been since the pc was purchased and i was told less than a year so im guessing the 3 year warranty is still in place but wouldnt you need reciepts or some type of prrof that you havent had it longer than the time frame of the warranty?
