Hi reads, welcome to the PCHF.
LCDs only support 60hrz, sometimes 75hrz, depending on the brand - but they don't need to go above 60...as the internals work differently to a CRT. The native res (1280x1024) is the maximum you'll get out of the monitor i'm affraid, as they are designed speficially for that, much like laptops...if you go above this resolution, you will need to scroll on the desktop (move the mouse to the edges of the screen to see the next part of the desktop).
It might just be the KVM that you currently have, doesn't support digital inputs, or that both computers are running out of range from your old monitor...best bet would be to boot into safe mode or reinstall video card drivers.
If this isn't the case, then i'd check to see if your monitor supports multiple inputs, and use the KVM only for your keyboard/mouse. An extra step..but an easy solution if it supports it.
