Hi all,
I have a problem with a black screen on a laptop.
The laptop is Compaq Presario 2100.

Any ideas??

Is there a brightness slider? Does it boot into Windows or is it just black from startup? Can you get to your CMOS (Setup)?

Tried the brightness buttons.... No luck.
Its an instant black screen. No start-up screen... No nothing.

Try removing both the power and battery for a couple of minutes and try again....

sorry of seeing the worst of things, but it coulld be a dead panel, or something similar, or it could be a dislodged cable inside the laptop. or some other chip in the screen dying, infact i remember that there is a certain board that cn be prone to failure causing black screens, but in my tired state i just cant seem to recall the name, do a little googling on your problem, and you may be able to find something else, and it doesnt need to be with you exact model laptop, or even brand, just put a few links here if you find anything, and im sure someone will have a look at it, but as for me, im off, i will check back in the morning
