Ok --good stuff--some folks pay no attention to the basics, you know?
You obviously know your way around-- is the Video card new too?
Strange issue-- hmmm.

yes, all hardware was purchased at the same time, however, notably, one stick of my dual channell OCZ (which I've had good luck with in the past) of ram was DOA, and my motherboard was defective however, it did not show any symptoms until I upgraded to vista. I've had trouble with the power in my house, with surges and the like, and, I have my system hooked up to an APC surge protector/ battery backup. (which means its no better than just plugging it strait into the wall) I have been meaning to invest in a monster surge protector but just haven't done it yet.

What's the matter with APC ? Good protection as far as I know. Sufficient watts/run time?
Upgraded to Vista? From what I've seen I'll keep XP for about 5 years yet

OCZ Ram doa, huh? stranger yet... good rep there too.
