Default [Answered] Question about monitor splitting

Ok so here is the deal,

I know I can get a monitor splitter that allows me to connect 2+ monitors to one vga port on my computer that will run simaltaneously.

However how about something that I can switch back and forth from one monitor to another yet not run them simaltaneously all the time? (Or at all)

I have a room with my computer in it and am going to get a tv in here too. THough I have an extra monitor and wonder if I could plug that in, use that as a tv through a tv tuner card when I want to. So I guess I am wondering if there is any sort of splitter that has a switch for which monitor is in use?

Though I guess that could just be controlled through the power of the monitor...

Thanks for any help!

- Maizon

Hi Maizon,

That same technology used to split your desktop onto multiple screens can also be used to alternate which screen or TV you would like to display your desktop onto, or even duplicate your desktop onto both. I would recommend an NVidia GeForce graphics card, as these are generally supplied with two VGA ports as well as an S-Video output for your TV. It also has "NView", which will allow you to control how you view your screens from the system tray.

I run 2 screens like this and my T.V 1 screen to my vga port 1 screen to my DVI port with an DVI to VGA converter and my T.V off s-video. If you video card has an DVI port a vga converter maybe an option. I love having seperate screens E.g I can have PCHF in internet explorer full sceen on one and look for the answers on my other one.
