Most newer video cards support at least one widescreen resolution. The only time you'd really have a problem is if you had a video card that doesn't have any widescreen resolutions available.

The only other time it can be a hassle is if you change your monitors out on occasion (like if you are hooking your computer up to a TV to play video games). All you have to do is remember to set the resolution (and refresh rate if you changed it for some reason) back to one that your TV supports before switching it to the TV. Otherwise you are going to have to boot into safe mode to change it after it's hooked up to the TV.

But other than that, I can't see any reason not to get a widescreen unless you don't like the size/shape.
