Default Is my monitor crapping out?

I just recently recieved a dell monitor (Dell e153fpt) from my friend. The monitor is a few years old. I would have troubles with it constantly when I just turn it on. It's as though it needs to warm up to perform correctly. What happens is that it would start blinking, like it would go on and off? or so it seems that way because the power light turns green and then no light...After a while of doing this it'll run smooth. Is the monitor just crapping out on me or is there a way to fix it? Anyone have any thoughts?

Alright, the simple stuff. Tried the monitor on another computer? Tried a diffrent monitor on your computer?
Monitors do have an end useful life, but that usually means that it just gets darker with age.

Tried all the above. Tried a new monitor with my old computer and it worked fine. This dell monitor was used on my friend's computer and it did the same.

It sounds like it might have a dry joint. This means the soldering on the circuit board is no good and can ususlly be fixed by resoldering it. But they are hard to find if you don't know what your doing you would have to know how to use a multi meter to find the dry joint. This will be why it works once it is warmed up the solder expands in the dry joint causing it to contact properly. Very common problem with monitors.

Nope just a regular lcd monitor. No special softwares. Only has an analog input too.

I forgot to mention before that when it blinks, I can wiggle the power cord right next to the monitor and it would work properly again. Could it still be a dry joint?
