Default Hi All

Thank-you all in advance

I have recently started from scratch on my system, and am currently unable to view videos on windows media player. The file plays, but the video is black. I have also recently installed a Radeon 9250 video card, and a LG DVD burner. When I choose "open with" my only options are Windows Media Player, "power DVD" and IE. I thought I had all of the codecs I needed, is there something else I am missing here? Just downloaded all in one codec and still no video display. When I play the file the name turns green, (I've never seen that before either).
Also the screen has a different shade where the video should be playing (different videos, different size of video window.)

Thanks again,
Swizz

Hey Swizz,

Can you try using Windows Codec Pack, which can be downloaded from here: Codec Installation Packages for IT Professionals

Otherwise, please can you let me know which files you have problems with (.avi, .avi DIVX, .mpg, .mov, .wmv e.t.c.)?

Hi Madmonkey,

sorry for the double post, wasn't sure if it was monitors, or graphics.

I went to the link you posted, and it suggests a full re-install, I have done that and still get the same problem, with all video types (avi, MPEG, WMV, and ones that are listed only as "video clip") I can't go to WMP 11 because I don't have service pack 2 for XP. When the video starts to play, the audio is there, but the portion of the video screen that contains the video is a deep purple. Also the name of the file in the songlist turns green, all of my audio files play normally.

Thanks again,
Swizz

You downloaded and installed the Codec Pack (6.4) from the Download button at the bottom of the page, of this link I provided?
