Default Arrgh! My Brain!!

Hello there. I have recently become a rather frequent poster due to the effeciency and accuracy of replies given in most cases. Well done on that!

Anyways, my monitor makes a kindof high pitched squeeky noise. For those of you who lead sad lives and have for any reason ever played with a signal/wave generator, the sound output by my monitor is like a low volume 15kHz sin wave in my ear at all time when i`m using the computer. Its only noticable when the room is quiet so its not something that MUST be fixed, but i`m sure you can appreciate its **** annoying. Anyway, Ive only had this monitor about 6 weeks. This one replaced my previous monitor of the same model after it started going black at random intervals and failing to display videos correctly after any length of time. Anyways, the point is its a reasonably new monitor. My old monitor did the same thing but i didnt bother with that cos i figured it was cos it was broke. This one works fine but makes the noise. Any ideas anybody?
Oh and when i switch it off the noise continues for 3-5 seconds before finally dying out. On the previous monitor sometimes i would have to unplug the monitor to kill the noise.

Pleeeese help cos it makes my brain hurt!

Hey min, do you have TFT or CRT monitor?

Make sure the refresh rate is not to low or high.

Control Panel, Display, Settings tab, Advanced, Monitor tab and make sure the refresh rate is 60 or 75hz.

Hrmm....that is odd - leave the refresh rate at 60..
One thing to check is connections - make sure all power and video cables are plugged in as tight as they can be...at both ends of the cable.

Also..thanks for the kind words

Howdy.
I checked all the connections, they all seem fine... I did have an idea but i cant do anything about it atm. I switched from using a normal analogue cable to a dvi a while ago and before i did this i never noticed any noises. It might just have been ignorance but i`m gonna dig it out and test it anyways. I`ll post again when ive done it.

Yes, i know what a 15 KHz tone is, and it's annoying. Usually that comes because of the said above, but age is also a problem. Is it new to you or store new? If it's store new, take it back and say it's broken. The whine is probably because somthing inside is not right.
