First of all hello,
A friend of mine gave me a 17 inch ilyama prolite E435s LCD Monitor with trouble of course.THe colors are all wrong black isn't black and that goes for the rest of the colors too.I found a program on the passmarksite for calibrating my monitor but to no avail. Is this a hardware problem and do i need to take it to the repairshop or should i just throw it away?

Hello rpduk,

Welcome to PCHF.

What colour is black showing on the screen? Also can you see red, green and blue colours normally? The screen has it's own on screen display (OSD) without the need for software, and should have an auto adjust feature, have you used this?

hmmm, if it wasn't for the blue instead of black, I would say to have a look at your OSD menu, and you can also alter your RGB (Red/Green/Blue) colour values from there.

Another thing to check, is both sides of the monitor cable, they should be both male connectors. Make sure none of the pins are bent inwards, or try another cable.

That's all you can pritty much do on a monitor yourself, unless your a qualified engineer, and even then, parts for a screen cost nearly as much as a new screen would cost in any case, but I would try the two things I suggested above.
