Dell's are nice PC's to buy, and cheap for what you get. Their support is great too, but the only disadvantage with Dell is that their upgradability is really poor. The memory isn't being made anymore, but you could probably pick some up fairly cheap from e-bay.

Yep it happens with the same monitor. Just to double check, I borrowed a Videoseven monitor tonight and it starts up fine. So at least I know it's not the PC!

Never really thought about upgradeability when I bought my PC. Seems silly now! Had a quick check like you suggested and it is possible to pick up some memory quite cheaply, but as you said Dell's are poor to upgrade, I don't have any extra memory slots. Beginning to get a bit slow!

It's quite hard when you buy, anywhere to know how upgradable a PC is. This information isn't normally volunteered so don't blame yourself, I've made the same mistake in the past.

You'll need to out how much memory is currently in your two slots? Say if you have two 256mb sticks, then buy 1gb or two 512mb stick and sell your old two!
