Hi back,

I am not sure I understand: "you got the stop error number when the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) appeared did you?".

Please kindly rephrase the above sentence.

PS. The BSOD name I hear for the 1st time, and it really conveys my emotions when I see the screen!

Cheers

No problems kilo

'Blue Screen of Death' is just a name that has been around since windows 1...it happens when there's a hardware conflict, or hardware fault and it gives you a series of a alphanumeric code which is called a 'stop code'
they generally look like this 0x0000000 with different numbers.

Each stop code has a specific meaning and can help identify almost exactly what's wrong with your computer.

well thanks,
I am sure I saw such a code number, I ignored it since I cannot get what they mean. WOuld you be able to make out what this means if it appears again? Maybe I could check it in a log file stored somewhere by the system. Where could I find such a *.log file?

I certainly would be able to make out what it means

A log file is only created if your computer is told to create the file...

C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

well, 'unfortunately' this time the OS loaded perfectly well - meaning no BSoD - so i cannot figure out what the reoccuring problem might be. And no file saved! Anyway, I cannot test my video card on another system - what else can I do to sort out the problem with the screen not displaying anything before XP is loaded?

Perhaps try your chipset drivers?

Can you please tell me what motherboard you have?
