Default PC Switches Off When VGA plug is moved

Hi

Im not entirely sure whether this is to do with my monitor, graphics card or motherboard. But here goes anyway. Whenever my blue VGA plug from my monitor is moved it causes the pc to switch off. When i turn my pc back on i get some beeps and a screen is displayed saying the "CPU was previously shut down due to a thermal event" it gives me the option to continue or go to bios. i have tried it with another monitor and it does the same thing. If anyone could give me an idea of what is going on i would greatly appreciate it.

Hello benjy234,

Welcome to pchf.

It sounds very much like you have a loose graphics card. You will need to open your PC, take out the screw holding the graphics card in place, remove the card, and then gently reseat it properly.

Hi

I tried inserting my graphics card again and unfortunatly the problem is still persisting. Even more i have notice that it isnt just happening with the ga plug but all the plugs at the back of my pc which would suggest its to do with the i/o panel.

Ok reading about it says it's due to a Keyboard Controller Error"

Try these

reseat the keyboard controller chip. If it still beeps,
replace the keyboardcontroller. If it still beeps,
try a different keyboard.

Do you get alot of short beeps and 1 long beep , or 6 short beeps? .
