Default [Answered] great but affordable plugin VGA DVI card. suggestions please

I just received dual vga moniters from my uncle but my dell didn't have any extra ports. he recommended getting a card that has dvi and vga, just buy an adapter for the dvi convert to vga for now, incase i got a moniter that supports dvi in the future. any suggestions for an affordable card are welcomed. does a vga dvi card need any special accessories, software, drivers or can i just plug and setup? also under display properties>settings once you install a card that supports 2 moniters, will the second moniter show with a dropdown?

thanks,
Joe

Hello Joe,

Welcome to pchf.

What sort of applications are you running on your PC, do you use your PC for gaming?

How about this card:
PowerColor Radeon 9250 Video Card R9250128MB64BIT 47108109 36098 AGP 8X 128MB DDR DVI TV-Out AGP Video Card VD ATI Radeon 9250-Best Computer Online Store Houston Buy Discount Prices Texas-Directron.com

You would need to make sure your motherboard on your PC has a spare AGP slot. They normally do come with an adaptor and a driver CD for you to install it on.

I think you already know where to look once installed, but just incase, go to Display in your Control Panel. In the Settings tab, you will see a section starting with "Display". From that dropdown box, three items will appear. The first will most likely be your old card, the second will by your new VGA connection, and the third will be the DVI connection. From there you can select which monitor you would like to use as your primary (VGA) and which one you would like to be your secondary (DVI). You can extend your desktop onto the second screen if you wish.
