Default Random Monitor Turning off

This problem only started tonite, i was on my computer playing my ps2 through my powercinema program, and all of a sudden my screen turned off but the green light was still on for the monitor being turned on. I was confused and turned it off then turned it on again. The monitor came back on for around one second then turned back off again.

Restarting didnt seem to fix it as i restarted several times, it kept turning off during the start up till the point where it wld have went to my log in screen then stays off. Again if i press on and off on the monitor it comes back on but turns off again after about 1 second.

After a few more restarts it worked again and was fine, everything working and i thouhgt nothing more of it, then i went onto the internet and was on msn typing away and tehn it did it again and took about 7 restarts before it worked again.
To this moment it hasnt done it again, any ideas what is going on, i havnt installed anything recently that im aware off, only neuview media player a couple of days ago so i can play incomplete avi files but there has been no problems till 2nite

Does the monitor actually turn off or just blank out?

Well the green light is still on, so i assume its not actually turning off, and is just blanking out, though comes on again for a second or so if i press the button off and on

Hi blueant.

When this happens agian - see if you can boot up into safe mode.
If you can, it's a driver issue.

Try reinstalling your video card and chipset drivers from safe mode?
