Default Is This Fixable?

Just recently my monitor started acting up. Every time it is turned off and then turned back on, the resolution is all messed up. The sides of the picture are moved in, the top of the screen is shifted up, etc. Is this a fixable problem, or is it time to invest in a new one? It's nothing fancy. About 6-7 years old. Any ideas?

Maybe a silly question but did you degauss the screen yet?

Well, after I did a Google search on degauss, I DID degauss it and it's still the same. Any other ideas?

Well, from the sounds of it - it's your actual computer resetting the resolution whenever you turn the computer off.

Or do you mean everytime the actual monitor is switched off?

Is there any way that you can put another monitor on your PC so that we can test if it is the monitor or the graphics card that is at fault here.

unfortunately, no. Is there a way to check the graphics card other than trying another monitor?
