Default Dual Monitors assistance

Hi everyone, I had a lot of help with my spyware problem, now I need help with my dual monitor set up.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 and I just bought a cheap ATI PCI graphics card(Diablotek ATI Rage XL 8MB SDRAM PCI VGA Video Card VARX-8P at TigerDirect.com). The card fits into the slot but the metal holder for the actual graphics card is too big for my PC. Is there anyway around this without getting a new card? Can I just bend the metal part in to close my case? And I am going to include some pictures of my setup and where the card is to double check if I have it in the correct place.

Sorry it is a bit hard to see, but that is the card in the CPU with the metal protector sticking out.

That is my PCI slot

And that is the card in the PCI slot. It fits in but the only problem is that little metal part sticking out the top.

Hi KittyCat,

The card itself is small enough to fit in, which is good. But your computer is classed as a "Small Form Factor (SFF)" which require SFF brackets.

You should be able to head back to the store you bought the video card from and ask them for a SFF bracket for the video card.

I bought it from Tiger Direct, and I don't feel like buying a new one. Is there any homebrew way of doing this? Would bending the plate be so bad? Or do I need to get a SFF plate?

No, bending the plate would work fine. Just make sure you dont touch metal to the card or bend the card

EDIT: I would recommend getting a SFF plate however, but i don't know where you'd be able to "buy" them from...i just know that some smaller video cards are supplied with both plates just incase they are used for SFF.

Alright, thank you, I am going to try the bending. I mean the card was $13 and what is the worst that could happen. If push comes to shove I will make sure the next one I buy is SFF. Thank you for all the help, I will let you guys know if I get my dualies going tonight.
