Question [Answered] Widescreen or Normal?

I plan to buy a new monitor. It's going to be a 19" LCD. What I want to know is whether I should stick to a normal ratio screen or a widescreen monitor.

This monitor is going to be used 50% of the time for normal stuff like internet, mail, music, and watching movies. The other 50% is going to be gaming.

I'm stuck on 2 models but recommendations would be nice too. Just nothing over $250USD.

And what do 19" normal/widescreen measure in length and height?

Personally, I wouldn't go wide screen with a 19"...it's not enough monitor to make it wide screen IMO.

But that's just my personal preference

I've just ordered myself a Dell 24" Wide screen....my choice was between samsung and dell (same panel and specs...the dell was $600 cheaper)

I don't need a gigantic screen, my current one is a 17" CRT, the screen itself is something like 15.6". Either way a widescreen of normal screen is a big difference. All I want to know the the dimensions in width and height and would widescreen be usefull. I usually play games and photoshop.

Fair enough then. Games - the widescreen is good, it emerses your more into the game, but you need to have the video card that can handle widescreen gameplay, and the games have to support it otherwise it's going to look a tiny bit wierd at first...you'll get used to it soon.

And with the dimensions, it all depends on the brand...but all LCD's are the same in the fact of when they say 19"...it's 19" from corner to corner, viewable area.

Ok, well, I think I'm gunna go to Best Buy or Circuit City and take a look at the monitors. Then I'll go order one online. Yay for the internet!
