Arrow Trouble setting up dual panoramic monitor display

Hello, I am looking to run a panoramic dual monitor setup with my IBM Thinkpad X20 laptop. I have a docking station, its part number is IBM 08N1180, but I do not believe I can run a monitor display from it.

However, my laptop itself has a HD15F connector in the back. The 2 monitors I will be using use HD15M connectors. What options do I have to run a panoramic dual monitor display with my system?

I've heard of HD15F splitters which sound promising, would these be any help?

Thanks, I am looking forward to hearing your input,

-Nick

Hi there and welcome. I think that even if you employed a d-sub splitter you would only duplicate one screen's output, you need 2 video channels, either 2 graphics cards or a graphics card with 2xD-Sub or 2xDVI or one of each to achieve a panoramic display.

Thank you for the reply Hengis. Do you have any recommendations as far as video cards capable of that output which would would be compatible with my laptop?

I was told by a friend that if I were to plug an external monitor through the blue display port on the back of my laptop while leaving my laptop lid open I would be able to implement a dual panoramic display. Is there any truth to what he says?

Thank you for you help,

-Nick

Well, you could try that but I think again, it would just duplicate your laptop display output. As for graphics cards for the laptop, they are part of the motherboard usually so you will not be able to interchange it.

I would be interested if anyone else has a different take on this situation.
