Did you set the resolution and refresh rate correctly? Rightclick on youre desktop and select properties , then on the "settings tab" select the resolution and on the same tab press "advanced" , then click on the monitor tab , select the "refresh rate".

EDIT - Joe5 got there before me, removed link

Another thing you will need to do is open your display properties:
  • Start - Control Panel - Display
  • Then click on Settings
  • Change your resolution to 1024 x 768 or if your monitor doesn't handle that then you can change it to 800 x 600.
Is the text only blurred in the centre of the screen or all over?

Do you have a "degauss" option on youre monitor? if yes , try that to see if that helps.

Default degauss?

no, does nt work, it was one of the first things i tried. Stuff in the middle of the screen is still legible, its just its blurred. I now realise its not jsut text but also everything else in teh middle of the screen. By the middle of the screen btw i mean from top to bottom in the centre. Its like a fade effect of blurring like u wud set for a text box background in MS Word. I hope ya kno wot i mean lol, i think its preatty common.
