Default Help for DVI Moniter

I am installing a new video card, a FX5200 GForce 256MB. My DVI slot on my computer is broken, and on my moniter 2 dvi pins are missing from the connectors are broken. I am wondering if I install a new video card, and put the connector in the video card, would my moniter work?

Thank You.

 Hey Krnpro,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a great team of techs here with a wide variety of computer knowledge, I am sure that we can help answer your questions.

Unfortunately, hardware is not my area of expertise, however, I would be curious to know if your monitor worked in your old vid card.

I expect that the hardware gurus of the site will be on before too long, and you will find information by morning.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Your monitor should work, but you might not get full color or full digital scenes. If you can get a new cord that would be great, or in the meantime, you can take 2 safety pins cut them to size and insert them slowly into the missing hole's. Make sure they are the same lenght out. Also cut off the sharp end from the safety pin..
