Unhappy Tv/Monitor - Help needed

Hey guys, im new here
I was wondering if any of you could help me. I have bought a new tv/monitor and linked it to my laptop.
The pc display seems to be fine, but whenever i switch to tv or onto my xbox, there appears to be background "noise" and the picture is not very clear at all.
I ask you guys if you could help because i have tried everything and cant get it to work.
If anyone has had this problem in the past and knows what is wrong, ANY help would be appreciated.

P.S. it is and lcd monitor, and i have tried everything to do with the remote, and on the monitor itself, and i believe it to be someething that needs correcting via my laptop?

Welcome to PC Help Forum.com

What happens if you disconnect the laptop and then switch to the TV or XBox ? Still get the background noise?

Hey, thanx for replying
Yeah, the noise was there to begin with (without ever being connected to the laptop), so i thought i would need to connect it to the latop to get rid of this noise.
But i would not know where to start because there are alot of options?

Sound like it will be a setting on your laptop that needs to be changed,

Take a look at this "similar thread":
http://www.pchelpforum.com/graphics/...-question.html

I know that in that thread the person is using an Nvidia graphics card but the process might be similar.

Would you be able to post the exact make/model of your monitor.
