Question [Answered] screen distortion

hi there.
not all the time but quite often when my p.c. has booted up the desktop will be squeezed over to the right side of the screen. the only way i can get it back is to adjust the controls on the front of the monitor.could anyone explain how to prevent this happening.
my system details are
windows xp home with service pack 2
windows updates installed when relevant to me.
crt monitor tatung approx 8 years old.
panda antivirus,genuine and paid for.
webroot spy sweeper installed and updated regularly.
zone alarm firewall.
all of these run from boot up.

regards stan.

Hi stan Laurel.

I think youre monitor is getting old and telling you that it's gona quit soon , can you try it with a different monitor to see if its indeed the monitor?

Definately sounds like a monitor problem...

Try what Joe5 recommends and if you want to try something else which is always fun then do the following:
Hit the side of your monitor, (more than a gentle tap) and see whether the screen flickers or shakes around.

Also good for letting out tension.
