Is your phone a sim or non sim phone? If it's a non sim phone, most phone companys lock your account to one IMEI to prevent cloning which means you can only use the phone that's IMEI has been registered to your account. To use that phone again you'll have to re-register that IMEI but you'll lose the use of your current phone.

You could try resetting the phone. To do that you have to go to Menu>>settings>>master reset>>reset settings and enter 0000. That means that you'll lose any data on your phone, but any info stored on the sim should be safe, such as your phone book if you store the numbers to the sim and not the phone book.
