Hello Aurthur,

HP support,I had to gigggle.

If it is AMD processor already installed then to replace it with another AMD processor.

No you cannot fit a Intel processor into an AMD processor capable mainboard.

The manual states in Section 1.1:

1.1 Features

Mobile Intel Pentium 4 3.06-, 2.80-, 2.66-, and 2.40-GHz
processors, all with 512-KB L2 cache, varying by notebook
model

- or -

Intel Pentium 4 DT 3.20-, 3.06-, 2.80-, 2.66-, and 2.40-GHz
processors, all with 256-KB L2 cache, varying by notebook
model

- or -

AMD Athlon 64 1.8-, 2.0-, and 2.2-GHz processors, all with
1-MB L2 cache, varying by notebook model

- or -

AMD Athlon XP-M 1.6-GHz processor with 256-KB L2
cache
So the rep Vincente is technically correct, in saying that the notebook can have either AMD or Intel...

..... So does that mean that I can change my XP-M 3000 754 for one of those Intel's? (not only should it fit in the socket but also work. :P)

You never gave a reason why you want to change cpu makers.

Can you explain why you want to do this ...

I dont, I just need something a bit faster that uses less power. This chip is 1.6Ghz and 65w. The socket 754 Turion can go to 2.xGhz with only 25-25w.

You will be wasting your money upgrading the notebook.

You will be better off putting the money towards getting a new faster computer, the you will not have any hassles...
