I have a HP LAPTOP and would like to know if I can upgrade the CPU. This is the MOBILE section of the forum, and I want some one to move this thread to another section. |

The information you were given pertains to a line of notebooks in general.
For example I own a Dell Inspiron and I could have ordered it with an AMD CPU or an Intel CPU at the time I placed the order. Once you own the item you have to upgrade according to what your motherboard will accept and you can't stick an AMD CPU into an Intel socket or vice versa. I noted in the original post the support info given says "varies by notebook" after the CPU listings. Though I've not tried it I suppose one could swap out the whole board and change from AMD to Intel but I can't see that being very cost effective.
