If I could upgrade it it would only cost about $25 while a new laptop is at least $500 and they dont come with XP.

Does this have something to do with your thread?

First you wanted info for a notebook, so it's not a notebook but a mobile phone.

So you want to put a Intel cpu into a mobile phone now, is that correct...

Dude are you on something?
I have a HP LAPTOP and would like to know if I can upgrade the CPU.
This is the MOBILE section of the forum, and I want some one to move this thread to another section.

The information you were given pertains to a line of notebooks in general.

For example I own a Dell Inspiron and I could have ordered it with an AMD CPU or an Intel CPU at the time I placed the order.

Once you own the item you have to upgrade according to what your motherboard will accept and you can't stick an AMD CPU into an Intel socket or vice versa.

I noted in the original post the support info given says "varies by notebook" after the CPU listings.

Though I've not tried it I suppose one could swap out the whole board and change from AMD to Intel but I can't see that being very cost effective.
