Default Seagate 500Gb taken over USB memory

I recently installed a 500gb USB portable hard drive as back up/extending my PC memory. It all works fine and no issues with the device, but when it is connected I cannot add/use another USB device such as an MP3 player or SD card reader.

I ideally wanted to have the Seagate HD drive on all the time so i could drag and drop from the seagate to whatever other device that was being used without having to use the PC memory, this is not happening.

Of course I have deleted the installation software on the Seagate so buggered there and had no reply for Seagate themselves.

Any ideas?

Are you saying you only have 1 USB port Crayon or when the 500GB is plugged in nothing else registers?

Sounds like nothing else will work to me. Is the drive powered by the computer or a plug? might be the issue.
