Question Do two different models of ram make a diff?

Hello ALL !

Been on the crucial website and they scanned my pc for ram upgrade.

My question is, does it matter if there are 2 different models of ram such as...
1GB
Part #: CT367534 • DDR PC2700 • CL=2.5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR333 • 2.5V • 128Meg x 64 • •

+
1GB
Part #: CT367542 • DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR400 • 2.6V • 128Meg x 64 • •

Or can i just order two of the same ?

Sorry for the most dumbest question .

Thanks All .

If you are talking of putting 1 stick in as listed at the top and 1 stick as listed at the bottom then don't.

Use sticks of identical speeds and ideally the same size.

Hi

Using different types of memory, in general, will force the fastest to underclock down to the level of the slowest.

However, as you can see for yourself, more parameters come into play, as latency, and voltage-plus the different quality standards for each manufacturer.

Some systems can operate in dual-channel mode even if the modules are different, however, eventually, this discrepancy will show in memory intensive applications (gaming...)

I'd recommend you go for 2 modules of the fastest (DDR PC3200), and as already stated, there are no stupid questions here.

I know this has been answered, but if I have 2 gb ( 2x1gb) ddr2 800 mhz pc6400 ocz gold with timings of 5-5-5-18 and want to add 4 gb (2x2) of ddr2 800 mhz pc6400 with the same timings but of a different brand ( lets say patriot)

Will this cause a slow down, change in overclocking or anything else??

Thanks
