As you can see with the dual channel mode the numbers nearly doubled them selves in speed, but i want the viewer to really focus on how stable the numbers became when running a dual channle memory kit by it self. Even the slightest laceny curves will throw off the stability like crazy. Aslo notice with just 2 sticks instead of 3 there is less wattage usage.

Its clear that if your looking to play high end games i would highly recommend any dual channle memory install way over single mode configuration; but if you are not into gaming and looking to run large applications for sure quanity over performance would do you better here.
So now when someone offers you that extra ram stick you wont have to think twice about taking away your dual channel setup...

Default Re: 1.5g single channel vs 1g dual channel test

I agree totally that when it comes to memory less is more so to speak.

I tend to prefer two matched sticks any day so if a person wants lots of memory get two large sticks rather than four smaller ones.

I just finished looking at that thread asking how much to sell a new build for and first thing that popped out at me was why on earth anyone would do a new build with a 1GB stick and a 2GB stick instead of two 2GB or two 1GB?
