Default Constant system beep during memory test on boot

I recently got an old computer (Pentium 200MHz with 64MB ram). It hadnt been used for long and last night i powered it up. I could see the mobo brand logo and stuff but at the memory test, the system beep kept playing till the test was complete. why's that? when the test was over the computer froze.
this morning i opened the case, unplugged the 2 memory sticks and plugged them in the one in the place of the other. the weird thing was that I saw no pieces of dust.so I tried to power it up again but nothing happened..it seemed dead.
any idea of what I should do?
thanks

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

A constant beep or several could be RAM or processor failure.

Have you tested the RAM as an individual stick?Do you have other spare RAM to test in this computer?

When you say dead or does nothing any lights on?Any noise coming from the machine at all?

Hi and thanks

well, when the test runs, it tests all the 65536 kilobytes making that constant repeating noise. So, being that the test finishes, I guess it meets no errors.
No, I didnt test one memory stick at a time.
no lights, no noises.. dead.

It appears to run the test and shuts down.

Possibly bad RAM.

Test each stick one at a time.

Did it appear a constant same pitched beep or a high low beep?

Do you know what your BIOS version is?

Bios Beep Codes | StudyNotes.net

Looking at the above link I can point out straight away a few things that may of caused this without knowing the BIOS version.

The BIOS/CMOS battery could of caused some issues. This is an old computer and BIOS batteries should be replaced every two years or due to damage such as a power outage or surge.

So we appear to be looking at:

Continuous beepingA problem with the memory or video.
Repeating High, Low beepsCPU failure
Repeating beep(s)RAM Problem.

Although as I said earlier it depends on your version of BIOS,do you know your version?

You could try another power supply although the CPU/processor may of died.

JB.
