Default Trouble Upgrading RAM with P5VDC-MX

I have an AUSUS P5VDC-MX motherboard. On the user manual it says it accepts 533/400 Mhz DDR2 RAM unbuffered and non-ECC. I found only one place selling 533 Mhz RAM and i bought it, it's MoveKing 1Gb 533MHz (and it says nothing about ECC nor if it's unbuffered). I put it in my computer, turn it on, and it starts beeping and nothing happens. so i turned it off and put back the old 512 DDR 333 MHz ram. Should I return the RAM I bought?
Can 667 RAM work on this motherboard? because there's plenty to choose from.

Hey gully have you tried it with the 512 in the first slot nearest CPU and the 1 gig in the second slot?

Nope I am afraid you have to stick with the correct RAM model.

Hey gully,

No this board won't accept 667's. There only a short list of 1gb sticks that are actually supported with this board, and those include:

Make, Chip No
Kingston, D640TE7BL-37
Samsung/Transcend, K4T51083QB-GCD5
Inineon, HYB18T512800BF37
Hynix, HY5PS12821F-C4, HT5PS12821F-C4, HY5PS12821AFP-C3
Elpida/Kingmax, E5108AB-5C-E

Thnx a lot guys,

I was afraid that this was the case.
And on the user guide it says not to mix ddr with ddr2 so i couldn't plug both in.

Thnx anyways, I wonder how it accepted the memory currently in it, because it's not listed in the qualified vendors list on the user guide.

The RAM listed there are makes and models that are supported and tested by Asus. It's doesn't necessarily mean that other makes and model's won't work.. it just means that if you buy them, it's off your own back if it works, and if it does work, really.
