, DC's advice is correct, and there are other alternatives as well. There are services who specialize in getting data off of HDDs. We have not only a great team of techs here but a very experienced and helpful user community, as you have already experienced, who can walk you through the steps if you'd like to try gettng the data yourself.
The good thing is that since the PC is turning on, you have an excellent chance of getting the data off without too much trouble.
