Default Total vs. available memory?

Another question folks! I tried searching this already.

I was doing a general cleanup/defrag on the PC this morning (I LOVE CC formerly "**** Cleaner")

Anyway I was checking around for general performance and found 1GB total memory, and 575.41Mb availabe Memory, page file somewhere in the 2Gb range!....does this sound about right? I know available memory is generally lower, but almost half? And what's with this page file number? And what would I have to do to change it if it's way too high?

Thanks, Joe

Hello,

Well page file/virtual memory acts like RAM.Paging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Could you list how many sticks of RAM you have installed and what gig or mb they are please.

Do you have any of your RAM dedicated to lets say graphics card?

I will mark your thread "Open" for the Tech Team to check.

JB.

It really depends on your OS, how many processes you have running etc...

Vista Premium on my laptop gobbles up nearly half of my 4GB RAM almost upon boot!

OK, according to crucial.com (couldn't remember for sure) I have 1 stick 512 DDR PC3200 and 1 stick 512 DDR PC2700. It says my MOBO will take 2 sticks up to 1GB each of DDR PC2700, which is kinda odd, since one of mine is PC3200 and everything seems to be running OK.

Thanks, Joe.

Hmmm.. can't see much about your RAM in there, although you should be running 2700 sticks and you'll max out at 2GB on that board. Are you sure both sticks are showing in the BIOS?
