Default Memory Problem. Need Advice.

Hi, ok so yesterday I turned on my computer and after about 1 minute of playing a game it froze and and I had to restart my computer. This has been happeneing for a while so I wasnt too surprised so I left it for 10 minutes then switched it back on. Normally if it still wont turn on it will emit beeps with 3 second gaps in between. But this this time it just emitted one long continous beep. I have tried several times to start up but no sucess. I have been told that it is probably my RAM, but I want to make sure that it is before I go out and buy new ram.

Thanks

Hello TheNear021.

You don't offer much info as to what you have for hardware so it would help if you fill in some of the blanks.

For example how much memory do you have and is it just one stick or multiple sticks.

One way to eliminate RAM as a problem is if you hopefully have more than one stick you could begin by removing one and trying to run the machine and failing that remove the other one and put the first one back in to try again.

The likelihood of multiple sticks expiring at the same time is small unless you had some sort of power event like a major surge, lightning etc.

If neither works I would try to get my hands on a known good memory module just to ensure that memory is indeed what is needed.
