Unhappy Monitors Don't Work With New Ram
Hi i installed a 512 168-pin Dimm ram to my pc that already has 256mb of ram same type and same pc133 speed (i know i'm behind time) first i just installed the ram, i grounded myself and installed the ram turned on the pc and the monitors did not respond took it out and turned back on the pc and it worked so i said maybe it's the psu. Took apart the whole pc and installed the both rams together and changed the slot of the original and put back the pc together and the same thing happened monitors did not respond took out the new ram and left the old one in the other slot and it worked just fine. any help is great please get back to me

It sounds like your new 512 stick of ram is cactus, take it back for a refund...

i don't think it's the stick because i've tried another 32mb stick and the same problem happened

Hey Guys,

@ Ragaro, welcome to PCHF. We have a terrific team of techs here, as well as a great group of helpful and knowlegable users, as you have already seen.

Can you please post the specs of your PC? If you would like you can post it so that they are there for any other troubles that you might need help on, by going to your User CP, clicking on Edit Options, then scrolling down to Thread Display Options, System Specs. You will want to change the box to a Yes, and then input your information with as much detail as possible.

Hey Raggaro,

Thanks for that. Did you have another 256 stick of RAM that you are replacing?

If you put in the RAM, and start to boot up the PC do you get anything at all on the Monitor, would it be possible to get into BIOS with the second stick in?

Have you tested it with ONLY the 512 stick in the first slot?

If you can get into the BIOS with the second stick either alone, or with the original, what does the PC BIOS show regarding the amount of RAM?
