Default memory upgrade problem

Hello everybody, can anybody help me, I have a PC with 256mb ram and wanted to upgrade I purchased a 512MB Hynix DDR333 PC2700-512 Mo MB DDR 333 PC 2700 RAM but my PC did not recognise it so i returned it assuming it was faulty. I purchased from another supplier (after using there memory checker & supplying my motherboard information) a Kingston Value RAM 256 DIMM 184- DDR 266 MHz. my pc does not recognise this upgrade either if i replace my original memory with the new memory my PC does not boot just beeps. Spec of my PC :
O/S = Windows XP
Motherboard = Epox 8kha+
Processor = AMD Athlon XP 1600+
Original Memory = : DDR DIMM 256MB RAM 169 Pin.
any help would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

Ok I think I found the mainboard specs.

I see the mainboard supports only up to 184 pin PC2100 DRR DRAM.

You bought PC2700.

Epox 8KHA+ has no trouble when filling all the slots with non-ECC memory. This is good news for those that purchased their DDR DRAM earlier and still have some 128 MB or 256 MB DIMMs lying around. The limit on memory size is 1.5 GB now, which should be more than enough for the life of any computer system. That allows you to have up to 512 MB in each memory slot.

This issue is you need PC2100 not PC2700.

Hi. Sorry no they have have supplied me with the correct memory on the packaging it says 256MB PC2100 CL2.5 184-Pin DIMM. My previously purchased memory was 2700 so that's why it didn't work. sorry i'm still no wiser.

The computer is beeping,does it continualy beep?Or a ceratin amount of beeps?

Kingston Value RAM there maybe a fault with it.

Does it beep if you only put the new RAM in the slot nearest CPU?
