Could be a faulty batch,what brand and type is the RAM?

If its still beeping when putting it in the origonal RAM slots there is a problem.

Could you run the crucial scan I posted earlier please?

Or it could be the RAM is not compatable.

What is make and model of your mainboard?

***Edit to previous post: The ram didn't give an error when I put one in the new slot and one in the old slot, but the comp only recognized the one in the old slot. I read in my manual that the ram has to fill the first set of slots before using the 2nd set.

The ram is PC2700 by PNY.

I'll try putting the new ram in the original slots, and then let you know what happened.

I tried one of the old and one of the new ones in both set of DIMM slots and the comp booted fine this time. Although I ran the crucial diag and it only recognizes 2Gb of ram. Maybe the second set of DIMM slots is messed up.

The mb is SuperMicro X6DVL-EG

Well, I tried both of the new ram sticks in the slots where my old ram had been and I got a beep code for "no memory found in system."

I guess I'll just return the ram and live with 2Gb.

Hello.I wonder if it is a combination of one corrupt RAM stick and bad slots.

The Mhz of the RAM is not the issue.

I have looked at voltage wich should be 2.5 V only.

Before returning the RAM I would check your mainboard manual and check BIOS settings.

If you could check the manual and see for any issues as it may not be bad RAM or slots.
