Default Is the voltage too low?

Recently I built a new system for a buddy. When I tried to install windows xp home, it would load all the installation files and then cut to an error screen right before it started setup. The local pc shop tested all the other parts in the system, and say it's probably a defective motherboard.
However I noticed in the BIOS that the RAM voltage was set to 1.9, when the site I bought it from states it should run at 2.0-2.1v. Could this be causing the xp error screen, and is there any danger in switching the voltage in the BIOS from the default 1.9v up to the recommended 2.0-2.1v?
Just wanted to check this out before I send the mobo off under warranty.

System specs:
AMD Phenom X4 9850
DFI Lanparty UT 790FX-M2R
G.SKILL F2-6400CL4D-2GBHKPC2-6400 2X1GB DDR2-800CL4-4-3-5 240PIN
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W
Visiontek Radeon 3870
Seagate Barracuda 500GB Sata2

Cheers, thanks for any help.

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

What does the error screen say?

Load fail safe defaults in BIOS and retry XP install.

Default Re: Is the voltage too low?

The error message is pretty much the following:

"A problem has been detected. Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
You should check for viruses, remove newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers, or check your hard drive to make sure it's properly configured and terminated.
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption.

STOP : 0x0000007B (0xF7C7A524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that out (but wouldn't the PC shop have tried that/what are fail safe defaults?)

Did you press F6 during install?
Advanced troubleshooting for "Stop 0x0000007B" errors in Windows XP

Have you run CHKDSK?

Enter BIOS and it will say press F? to load fail safe and defaults.

Wich the error code do you get any part of the error in upper case letters?

Example:INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Thanks for the suggestions, I read the troubleshooting guide, pressed F6, no luck. The PC shop already ran chkdsk, and loading the BIOS fail safe defaults did no good. And no, I don't get anything else than what I posted for the error screen. Heh, oh well.
