OK well i figured i would post it here. I have a brand new built pc that i put together.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 bit edition.

Asus M2N32- SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition
Athlon 64 X2 Processor 6400+ Black Edition
OCZ 8GB DDR2 800 (PC6200) Dual Channel kit
2 Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT
and a custom watercooling kit cooling it
Along with a Thermaltake 850W Modular power supply

the problem is every time i turn my PC on, my free physical memory always drops to double digits (40, 60 etc) and then i get the BSOD for physical memory dump. It is beginning to **** me off to no end. Is my ram bad or is my OS bad?

Could be many things--
A PC that powerful should not bluescreen--
Can you get to event viewer...?
Windows Vista Event Viewer

If you can-- could you post some of the dump logs back here?

If not a few things to check:
Try running with 1 or 2 RAM sticks installed-- you may have a bad one... (yes even good makers have defects)
If it works-- swap for the others -- if it crashes... there you go.

Re-seat everything -- thousandths of an inch gap under a RAM stick or Video card could cause weak signal.

Power-supply connections ? Especially modular.
ALL connections really should be triple-checked.

two vid-cards?-- running in SLI mode?

how do i check the dump logs from event viewer? its only giving me minimal options. As you say a pc this powerful should not blue screen. I have tried pushing everything in, even tried moving the ram around. I just ordered the new memtest software and will try that in a few days. But why is my physical memory running so low when i have 8gb of it?

1) Something is interfering with Windows "seeing" the RAM-- or at least all of it. All the gigs in the world do no good if the OS does not know they are there.
2) Something is corrupt in the installation of Windows
3)Perhaps the Motherboard itself is bad...or even the prcessors/ram or video card.


There are many possibilites here... It will take time, and most of all patience by the bucketful to get this right.
That's a very complex rig you have there- you cannot wave a magic wand-- and say that it's this or that...and fix it. (nor can anyone)

Everything in a PC is interlocked with everthing else... hardware and software alike.

I want you to upload them here-- our resident Bluescreen expert is not on right now-- but if you can post as many logs as you can find-- he might be able to decipher them for you.

i would but my event viewer is not showing anything really. Just basic options. No error section either. So i cant find the dump files

Then I would have to say that it is the Vista installation that is the issue... I would try a reinstall first
