Default 3 + gigs of ram in xp

i just installed my 2nd pair of ram in my pc. now im up to 4 gigs. 1 problem. xp wont see more then 2.5gbs. bios sees 4. i know i have to change the boot.ini but its not working. anyone got any ideas? here i my boot.ini

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /3GB

I assume you meant that Windows sees 3.5GB. It is a limitation of the 32bit OS, they cannot access over 3.25GB of Memory. It is not a problem with the memory, or your computer. The extra memory you gained should be worth wha tyou spent on it.

no its 2.5 lol not a typo. xp sees 2.50gb of ram. my bios sees 4

wierd. lol in system manager it only sees 2.5? downlaod everest from my sig and see what it says will ya? thanx

i ran cpuz and it shows 4096mb of RAM. so i know its working right

Gotta use Win 64 to see all 4 in a normal way.

4GB under Win 32 only buys you 1gb for OS/caching, 3gb for programming, but I still dont think it shows up that way.

Or you could run a real OS like linux
