hi Merlin, I just wanted to say thanks so much for your help and patience yesterday (not sure what time you're on there - I am in UK) but that I am going to return this memory to supplier (they agreed to a refund after Crucial Online Support confirmed that it was "a 'high density' module, which halves its value in many systems.")

on a final note, if you (or anyone for that matter) could possibly recommend some links to 1Gb (preferrably a 2Gb kit) memory modules (available to order in UK) that will DEFINATELY work with my ASUS P5VDC-TVM motherboard, I would be extremely grateful!

cheers again ~ eighty0ne

thanks Pgh - for future reference, how have you identified this as "low density" rather than "high density"
RAM? which tech spec am I looking for...? at a guess, it's the module confirguration of 8x64Mb - but I am not sure I understand why... sorry to be a pain & thanks so much for your help...
