Default DDR2 667 @ 266mhz?

Hi.

I'm not sure If I am reading this correct or not.

My laptops DDR2 RAM was 512mb 555MHz & 1GB 667MHz.

I realised that was a bit stupid (Like 6 months after fitting the 1GB chip) so pulled the 512MB chip and hoped to get 667MHz RAM speed.

(to be honest here I don't know what i'm looking for so please don't laugh)

CPU-Z says I'm getting "266.7mhz" DRAM frequency. (Both before and after I pulled the RAM)
Another reading from CPU-Z said i'm getting 333MHz... either way thats pretty **** for 667 ram.

Have I read this right??

What do I need to do to get the full 667?

I know the information I've given you is very basic but to be honest I don't know what else to say... So please state if you need any more information to assist me.

Thanks a lot for your help,
Tom.

Did you test speed of RAM?Your lapyop or computer does not use all the RAM upto full speed or use the whole 1GIG.If you only had fitted say 256 then yes it proberly would all be being used. But the more programms you use and pages you open or download or upload, the more speed or RAM is used.

I've had a few beers so some of the jargon means less than nothing to me... but from the gist of it, theres absalutely nothing wrong, and i've just made myself look like a fool...?

What about the mixing it with the 512mb 555mhz chip, (Bearing in mind im running RAM hungry Vista) should I keep it in or out?

Really I have little idea when it comes to hardware.

Thanks for your advice so far.

I can see that affecting the amount of RAM being used but not the speed it is being used at??

Sorry I really can't see it and I'd apreciate it if you could explain further...

Thanks a lot,
Tom
